Sunset Sanato Beach is a beach club on the central stretch of Long Beach, in Duong Bao hamlet below Phu Quoc airport, known for the long-legged elephant sculptures standing in the shallows and the Gate Keeper, a split face that frames the setting sun. Vietnamese guides from 2025 to September 2026 put walk-in entry at about VND 100,000 per adult, with food, drinks and water sports extra, and hours of roughly 9 am to 10 pm. From Sunset Beach Resort it is about 7–8 km by road, 15–20 minutes by car.
Despite the name, it has nothing to do with Sunset Beach Resort or with Sunset Town at An Thoi.
Sunset Sanato is not Sunset Beach Resort, or Sunset Town
Three places on Phu Quoc share the word sunset, and online map listings sometimes mix them up. Sunset Sanato is a resort and villa complex whose beach club and art installations are open to day visitors for a fee. Sunset Beach Resort & Spa, the hotel this guide covers, is an unrelated hotel at the town end of the same beach. Sunset Town is Sun Group’s development at An Thoi, near the Hon Thom cable car.
| Name | What it is | Where | From Sunset Beach Resort |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sunset Sanato | Resort, villas and paid beach club with sculptures | Duong Bao hamlet, south of the airport | Roughly 7–8 km by road; 15–20 min |
| Sunset Beach Resort & Spa | 4-star, 117-room beachfront hotel | 100C/2 Tran Hung Dao, Duong Dong, north end of Long Beach | You are here |
| Sunset Town | Sun Group town and promenade | An Thoi, southern tip of the island | About 23 km, 35–45 min |
When you order a Grab, type the full name, Sunset Sanato Beach Club, and confirm the pin sits south of the airport before you set off.
Sunset Sanato tickets and opening hours in 2026
We found no price list published by Sunset Sanato itself in October 2026, so these are the figures Vietnamese travel guides reported over the past year. They agree on the adult price and disagree on children and on what the ticket includes.
| Ticket | Reported price | Reported by |
|---|---|---|
| Adult walk-in entry | About VND 100,000 | Six guides, March 2025 to September 2026 |
| Child under 1.3 m | Free to VND 70,000, depending on source | mia.vn (Sept 2026); dulichcheckin.com (Feb 2026) |
| Entry plus outdoor pool | About VND 120,000 | sovaba.travel (April 2026) |
| Online combo passes | From about US$6.55 | Klook listing (October 2026) |
| Guests of Sunset Sanato Resort | Free | Several guides |
What the ticket covers
At minimum it gets you through the gate to the beach club, the sand and the sculptures; food, drinks and water sports are extra. One April 2026 guide says a lounger, umbrella and freshwater shower are included, while a September 2026 guide says sunbeds cost extra, so ask at the gate. A July 2026 traveller blog describes a minimum bar spend of VND 100,000 instead of a ticket, and Google reviewers mention unclear pricing at the booth. The online combos pair entry with a drink, a coconut or a snack.
Opening hours
Most sources give 9 am to 10 pm daily; two say 8 am, and one January 2026 guide says closing is 9 pm. The installations are lit after dark, but most visitors come for the hour either side of sunset.
The elephant sculptures and the other installations
The installations are built largely from bamboo and wood and spread along the beach club’s sand and jetty. Guides name the same handful of set pieces; we describe only what they report.
The long-legged elephants
The best-known piece is a small herd of elephants, four in one detailed guide, on extremely long, thin legs that stand in the shallows as if walking across the sea. The surreal proportions recall Salvador Dali’s elephants. At high tide the water covers the legs, which changes the photo, so a tide app is worth a look before you go.
The Gate Keeper
A sculpted human face split down the middle, with a gap between the two halves. Visitors stand on a wooden platform and try to catch the sun dropping into the gap; it is the spot with the longest queue after about 5 pm. It is lit at night.
Stairway to Heaven, Bird Nest and Sunset Arch
Stairway to Heaven is a staircase that climbs into open sky, usually photographed from below. Bird Nest is a nest-shaped structure people sit in for couple and family photos. Sunset Arch is named in one September 2026 guide as the wide frame for group shots. Smaller pieces include a giant hanging jellyfish, an oversized seashell, a mermaid and fish-shaped swings along the jetty.
When to go for sunset photos
Guides suggest arriving between 4 and 4.30 pm to get a seat and a clear shot before the crowd thickens. Sunset times below are calculated for Phu Quoc. The sun also moves along the horizon through the year, so whether it lines up with the Gate Keeper’s gap depends on the month and where you stand.
| Months | Sunset | Arrive by | Sun sets towards |
|---|---|---|---|
| October to December | 5.39–5.55 pm | About 4.30 pm | West-south-west to south-west |
| January to February | 5.53–6.15 pm | About 4.45 pm | South-west, moving west |
| March to May | 6.15–6.22 pm | About 5 pm | Due west, moving north-west |
| June to August | 6.15–6.30 pm | About 5 pm | West-north-west |
| September | 5.55–6.14 pm | About 4.45 pm | Due west |
The calm months for the sea and clear sunsets on this coast run from November to April; from June to September, south-west monsoon winds bring cloud and rough water. Our Long Beach guide covers swimming conditions month by month.
Food, drinks, water sports and the water park
Guides list three main venues: Sunset Lounge for Vietnamese and international dishes, Solar Pizza for wood-fired pizza, pasta and cocktails, and a beach bar, plus food stalls on the sand. An April 2026 guide put dishes at about VND 100,000–300,000, drinks at VND 50,000–100,000 and the seafood BBQ buffet with live music from VND 390,000 plus tax and service; a March 2026 visitor paid VND 150,000 for a sunset cocktail and VND 40,000 for a beer. Outside food is generally not allowed, and reviewers find the food overpriced.
Water sports run from the beach in calm weather: parasailing at about VND 750,000 a person, a banana boat at about VND 700,000 for up to five, and jet skis from about VND 600,000 for 10 minutes (September 2026 prices). The complex also has a water park with slides and a wave pool.
Getting there from Sunset Beach Resort
Head south on Tran Hung Dao and continue on provincial road DT975 towards Bai Truong; the run is about 7 km on a routing map, 15 to 20 minutes in normal traffic. Grab’s July 2026 fare table for Phu Quoc sets a base fare of VND 24,545 covering 2 km, then VND 11,782 a km, both before VAT: roughly VND 85,000–95,000 each way before surcharges. Book the ride back before the sunset crowd leaves.
The neat plan is sunset at Sanato, then straight back north to the Phu Quoc night market for dinner, 2.3 km beyond the hotel. For everything you can reach on foot from the hotel, read our Duong Dong and Long Beach walking guide.
Questions about Sunset Sanato Beach
Is Sunset Sanato the same as Sunset Beach Resort?
No. Sunset Sanato is a separate resort and beach club in Duong Bao, on the central stretch of Long Beach below the airport. Sunset Beach Resort & Spa, by contrast, is a 4-star hotel on Tran Hung Dao road at the Duong Dong end, about 7–8 km north by road. Neither is part of Sunset Town at An Thoi.
How much is the Sunset Sanato ticket?
Vietnamese travel guides from March 2025 to September 2026 consistently report about VND 100,000 for an adult walk-in ticket. Children under 1.3 m are listed as free or up to VND 70,000, depending on the source, and guests of Sunset Sanato Resort enter free. Food, drinks and water sports cost extra.
Can you visit Sunset Sanato without staying there?
Yes. Day visitors buy an entry ticket at the gate or an online combo pass, then have the run of the beach club, the sand and the sculptures. The resort’s villas, pools reserved for guests and spa are a separate matter for overnight guests.
What time should I arrive for sunset at Sunset Sanato?
About an hour to 90 minutes before sunset: around 4.30 pm from October to December, when the sun sets at 5.39–5.55 pm, and around 5 pm from March to August. The Gate Keeper queue builds after 5 pm.
Is Sunset Sanato worth visiting in the rainy season?
Only on a clear evening. Between June and September, south-west winds bring cloud and rough sea to this coast, so sunsets are hit and miss and water sports may not run. Watch the forecast on the day and keep it as a flexible plan.
Ticket, food and water sports prices are as reported by travel guides and may change at the gate. Distances, opening hours, sunset times and Grab fares checked October 2026.
