Getting there and getting around

Quiet island road lined with palm trees under a clear morning sky

About 9 km · 15–20 min

From the airport

The hotel runs a free shuttle at fixed times between 9 am and 5 pm, requested at least 24 hours ahead; guests report the last run around 4 pm, and one source mentions a fee. Outside those hours, a Grab or metered taxi covers the 9 km in 15–20 minutes.

Use the shuttle if you land in the daytime and have sent your flight details a day before. Take a car if you arrive in the evening or would rather not wait for a set time.

Busy night market street with food stalls and strings of lights

2.3 km · 5–8 min by car

Into Duong Dong and the night market

Turn right at the top of the lane and Tran Hung Dao runs north into Duong Dong, past cafés, dive shops and spas. The night market and Dinh Cau shrine are at the far end; most guests walk up in the evening and ride back.

Walk it if it is cool, you like to wander and you are fine with patchy pavements. Ride it if you have children with you or it is late — the lane is poorly lit.

Coastal road along a turquoise bay with green hills in the south of the island

23–24 km · 35–45 min

Heading south: Sunset Town, Hon Thom, Bai Sao

The island’s south — Sunset Town and the Kiss Bridge, the Hon Thom cable car, Bai Sao beach and the old prison — is a 35–45 minute drive down the main road. Grand World and the northern parks are a similar distance the other way.

Go for a day if you plan the trip around one area and return for sunset at the hotel. Stay further south if the southern islands and nightly Sunset Town shows are the heart of your trip.

Getting around from Sunset Beach Resort

01

Set the Grab pin at the gate

Drivers sometimes stop on Tran Hung Dao at the top of the lane. Drop the pick-up pin on the hotel entrance, or walk the short way up to the main road.

02

Walk there, ride back

For the night market, the 30-minute walk north is pleasant at dusk; after dinner, a 5-minute Grab back saves the dark final stretch of the lane.

03

Book the shuttle a day ahead

Send your flight number and arrival time at least 24 hours before landing, and confirm the slot; the shuttle runs only in the daytime.

Honest note

The lane from Tran Hung Dao is poorly lit and the pavements along the main road come and go, so this is not a hotel you stroll out of onto a promenade. With children or after dark, a 5-minute Grab is the easier choice for anything beyond the nearby cafés.

Questions about getting to Sunset Beach Resort

Is Sunset Beach Resort in Kien Giang or An Giang province?

An Giang. In July 2025 Kien Giang merged into An Giang and Phu Quoc became a special zone of the enlarged province, so the hotel now writes its address as Duong Dong, Phu Quoc, An Giang. Older maps, booking pages and review sites still show Kien Giang or “Duong To” — it is the same place at 100C/2 Tran Hung Dao.

Is there a public bus near Sunset Beach Resort?

Guests report that public bus number 19 stops on the main road outside, and others mention an island bus stop within a few hundred metres. Routes and fares change, so ask reception for the current timetable. For most trips — the night market, the airport or a beach in the south — a Grab is simpler and still inexpensive.

How long does it take from Sunset Beach Resort to Grand World and VinWonders?

About 35–45 minutes by car for the roughly 24 km north to Grand World, with VinWonders and the safari park close by. It is an easy half-day or evening trip by Grab or taxi, though not something to do on foot or by public bus. Agree a return time with your driver or book a car back in the app.

How far is Sunset Beach Resort from Sunset Town and the Hon Thom cable car?

About 23 km south, or 35–45 minutes by car in normal traffic. Sunset Town, the Kiss Bridge and the cable-car station are all in An Thoi at the southern tip of the island. Despite the similar names, Sunset Town is not part of this hotel, and its evening shows are a separate trip.

Is the area around Sunset Beach Resort safe at night?

Duong Dong and Long Beach are busy, well-travelled areas, and guests rarely report problems. The practical risks are traffic on Tran Hung Dao and the dark, uneven lane down to the hotel. Use a phone torch, keep bags on the side away from passing motorbikes, and take a Grab back if you are carrying shopping or walking with children.

What is right next to Sunset Beach Resort?

Within a few minutes’ walk there are day spas and massage places such as Cassia Cottage (about 200 m), cafés and restaurants on Tran Hung Dao, and two dive shops around 800 m away. Along the beach, neighbouring hotels and beach bars stretch both ways on Long Beach, so an evening walk on the sand is easy.

Can I get to Sunset Beach Resort late at night after a delayed flight?

Yes. Reception is listed as open around the clock (one listing says until midnight), so tell the hotel your new arrival time and take a Grab or metered taxi from the airport — the 9 km takes 15–20 minutes at night. The free shuttle only runs in the daytime, so it will not cover a late landing.

Beach out front, town up the lane

Sunset Beach Resort puts you on the sand without cutting you off: the night market, restaurants and Grab cars are minutes away. See rates for your dates on Agoda.
