Sunset Beach Resort Phu Quoc rooms: which ones really face the sea

Four of the six room types at Sunset Beach Resort look out to sea: the Deluxe Ocean Panorama, the Sunset Premium and the Grand Suite face it straight on, and the Deluxe Ocean View sees it at an angle. The Deluxe Room and the two-bedroom Family Deluxe look over the garden and hills. Booking pages give the same rooms different names, so go by size and view, not the label.

Each room, and who it suits

Freestanding bathtub and hanging rattan chair beside floor-to-ceiling windows at sunset

56 m² · Sea view · King · Balcony

Grand Suite

The largest sea-facing room: bed, sofas and a hanging rattan egg chair in one long space, a freestanding bathtub set against the glass, a separate shower and a wide balcony. The hotel describes it as a few steps from the sea.

Book it if it is a special trip and you want room to spread out, with the bath facing the sunset. Skip it if you will be out every evening — the extra space goes unused.

Round bed facing a curved wall of glass with the sea and palm trees beyond

36–42 m² · Sea & hills · Round bed

Sunset Premium

A corner room where a round bed faces a curved wall of floor-to-ceiling glass, with a freestanding bathtub and a separate shower. The view takes in the sea and, to one side, the hills; the hotel treats it as its signature room.

Book it if it is a honeymoon or anniversary and the sunset is the plan. Skip it if you are three people or want two separate beds.

Bedroom with wood floor, white king bed and a wide window looking out to the sea

32–44 m² · Sea view · King or twin

Deluxe Ocean Panorama

A wide glass front faces the sea straight on, with two armchairs by the window, wood floors and a walk-in shower. Twin versions with two single beds are sold under the same name; booking pages also call the king version “Deluxe Double Ocean Panorama”.

Book it if you want the sunset from the room without moving up to a suite. Skip it if a bathtub matters — this category has a shower only.

Bedroom with a king bed, teal cushions and a window looking past white buildings to the sea

32 m² · Partial sea view · King or twin

Deluxe Ocean View

Same size and finish as the Panorama, but the window takes in the sea at an angle, past gardens and the neighbouring blocks. Booking pages sell it as “Partial Ocean View”; some have a small balcony.

Book it if you want light and a glimpse of the sea, and will watch the sunset from the beach anyway. Skip it if an unobstructed sea view is the reason you are booking.

Bedroom with a king bed and an open door through to a second bedroom

56 m² · Garden & hills · 2 bedrooms

Family Deluxe

Two separate bedrooms, each with a king bed, joined by a short hall with wardrobe space and a walk-in shower. It looks inland over the garden and hills, not at the sea; booking pages also list it as “Family Room with Mountain View”.

Book it if you are a family of four or two couples who want a door between you. Skip it if a sea view is a must — there is no two-bedroom room facing the water.

Twin room with two white beds and armchairs by a window facing another white building

32 m² · Garden or hills · King or twin

Deluxe Room

The entry room, with the same wood floors, upholstered headboard and walk-in shower as the ocean rooms. Some face the garden; others look across at the next block, as the hotel’s own photos show.

Book it if you plan to spend the day on the beach and only sleep in the room. Skip it if the view from your window matters at all.

How to get the right room at Sunset Beach Resort

01

Match by view, not by name

Booking pages rename these rooms. “Partial Ocean View” is the hotel’s Deluxe Ocean View; “Deluxe Double Ocean Panorama” is a Panorama room with a king bed.

02

Ask for a higher floor

Ocean rooms are on floors 3 to 8. One guest found palms blocking part of a lower-floor view, so request a high floor when you book.

03

Ask to be away from the bar

If you sleep early, request a room away from the beach-bar side; the DJ and the fire show run late on most nights.

Honest note

Rooms are spacious and the sea-facing glass is the real thing, but some reviews mention musty bathrooms, thin walls and worn corners — a humid island building shows its age fast. If a room smells damp, ask to move on the first day rather than the last.

Questions about rooms at Sunset Beach Resort

How many rooms does Sunset Beach Resort have, and on how many floors?

Sunset Beach Resort has 117 rooms in three blocks, with up to nine floors. Ocean-facing rooms are on floors 3 to 8; one guest describes a ground-floor room opening straight towards the beach. The hotel does not publish how many rooms of each type there are, so the Sunset Premium and the Grand Suite are best booked early in busy weeks.

Are the king beds at Sunset Beach Resort true king beds?

Most are single king beds, but one guest reported a “king” made of two singles pushed together. If that matters, add “one true king bed, please” as a request when you book and confirm at check-in. Twin rooms are a separate choice on the booking page, so pick the bed type there rather than asking afterwards.

Can three adults share a Deluxe Ocean Panorama at Sunset Beach Resort?

Usually, in the king-bed version: booking pages list it for up to three adults (one says four), with one extra bed allowed per room for a fee. The twin version is for two. At around 32 m² three adults is a squeeze, so the Family Deluxe, with two bedrooms, is the more comfortable choice for a group.

What is in the rooms at Sunset Beach Resort?

Every room has free Wi-Fi, a 43-inch cable TV, a phone, a minibar, a safe, a kettle, bathrobes, slippers, a hair dryer and a dressing table, according to the hotel. The ocean-facing rooms add armchairs by the window. Bathrooms are walk-in showers behind glass, with a freestanding tub in the Sunset Premium and the Grand Suite.

Can I see the sunset from a Partial Ocean View room at Sunset Beach Resort?

Sometimes, but not reliably. The window faces the sea at an angle, so depending on the floor and the block you may catch the sky colouring rather than the sun dropping into the water. If the sunset itself is the point, book a Deluxe Ocean Panorama or the Sunset Premium, or watch from the beach bar, which faces due west.

Does Sunset Beach Resort have connecting rooms?

Some booking pages list a connected room in the garden-view B wing, but the hotel does not publish connecting rooms as a type. Treat it as on request: book two rooms, then email the hotel with both booking numbers and ask for them to be connected or side by side. The Family Deluxe gives two bedrooms under one door without the gamble.

Does the Grand Suite at Sunset Beach Resort have a separate living room?

Not a closed-off one. The hotel’s photos show one long space: the bed at one end, sofas and a hanging egg chair in the middle and the bathtub by the window, plus a separate shower and a wide balcony. It feels much larger than the 32 m² rooms, but if you need a door between sleeping and sitting areas, the Family Deluxe is the closer fit.

Pick the view, then check the dates

A Panorama or Sunset Premium room puts the sunset in front of the bed; the Family Deluxe gives two doors to close. Live rates for each room type are on Agoda.
